A No-Cost Way to Support FPGRC

If you bank with TD Bank, at any branch ask to have your accounts linked with code A3463. Annually, TD Bank will send FPGRC a check for 1/2 of 1% of the combined average balance of all accounts so linked. This is TD Bank’s way of giving back. Your info is kept confidential, of course.

If you’re with another bank, consider switching to TD Bank and linking your accounts.

Our Mission is to help children and their families experiencing homelessness in NH get back on their feet.

Our Vision is that every family has a home, a livelihood, and a chance to build a better future together.

We Run a Program to Help Homeless Children

Family Promise of Greater Rockingham County (FPGRC) runs a program called Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN) to serve Salem, Derry, and 14 surrounding towns in southern New Hampshire.

The Network, or IHN, provides a safe place for homeless families with children to turn for food, shelter, and social services. Participating congregations offer guidance and encouragement while preserving the dignity of families as they take steps to regain independence. Various faith communities demonstrate compassion and generosity as their volunteers put faith into action.

Why? There is no homeless shelter of any kind in Salem or Derry. There are at least 158 homeless families in Salem, Derry, and 14 surrounding towns in western Rockingham County.

FPGRC is a local affiliate of a national organization, Family Promise, based in New Jersey. Family Promise has over 180 affiliates in 41 states operating successful IHNs. Two of these IHNs exist elsewhere in New Hampshire. Nationally, 77% of IHN guests on average secure permanent housing. In 2012, an impressive 83% of Seacoast Family Promise (Portsmouth area) guests secured permanent housing upon their exit from the IHN.

FPGRC’s IHN serves Salem, Derry, and 14 surrounding towns: Atkinson, Auburn, Chester, Danville, Fremont, Hampstead, Kingston, Londonderry, Newton, Pelham, Plaistow, Raymond, Sandown, and Windham. This is a portion of Rockingham County roughly 20 miles across.

Dance-A-Thon Raised over $3000! The final numbers are not in yet, but clearly this event last Sat. May 11 was a huge success. We are thankful to Karen Bohnwagner & Lisa Roberts, nominees for last year’s Nurse of the Year and Licensed Assistant of the Year at Northeast Rehabilitation Hospital, for putting on the Dance-a-Thon to celebrate National Nurses Week and Licensed Assistants Day. Employees from three area rehab hospitals participated in the dance at Barons School in Salem.

Let’s Play Music Faculty Concert - $850! Our thanks to Jay and Jeanne LaTulippe and the faculty of their music school for this great concert. Family Promise assisted with refreshments and silent auction. For the small size of the crowd due to many competing events in the area that night, the amount raised was quite generous--thank you all!

Welcome, RCC, as a Host Congregation! Rockingham Christian Church of Salem, NH has been with FPGRC almost since the very beginning as a Support Congregation. (Support Congregations provide meals and volunteers to assist a Host Congregation.) However, even before their first week as a Support Congregation, they have decided to become a Host Congregation and provide hospitality at their own church facility. RCC is our 12th Host Congregation. We only need one more to make a full complement of 13 Host Congregations!

Welcome Grace Assembly of God, Salem! Grace Assembly of God in Salem has joined the IHN as a Host Congregation. Grace Assembly makes the 11th Host Congregation site in our IHN.

Welcome Greater Salem Vineyard! Greater Salem Vineyard has signed on to be a Support Congregation for Grace Assembly of God’s host week.

Teens of St. Anne’s Church recently made and gave us 144 blankets for our guest families. Thank you! L to R: Jacqui Wyka,Andrea Albrecht, Samantha Welch, Natalie Fabarizo, Erin Coutts.

Ladies’ Day Apart at Calvary Bible Church in April raised $4000 to install 2 showers at our Day Center. Thanks go to

Crossroads Contracting of Londonderry who is handling the shower installation. Nick Couture, the contractor, secured volunteer labor and donated showers.

Thanks go to Michelle McManus for organizing two book sales, at Windham High School and Salem High school, to benefit Family Promise. The sales brought in several hundred dollars.
